Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 21, 2026  ·  Sharp Veterinary Insight LLC

Summary: Sharp Veterinary Insight collects only the information needed to provide and improve our clinical reference platform. We do not sell your personal information. We use Clerk for account management and Stripe for payment processing — both are industry-standard, SOC 2-compliant services. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights.

1. Who We Are

Sharp Veterinary Insight LLC (“Sharp Veterinary Insight,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the clinical reference platform available at svetinsight.com. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information about users (“you”) of our platform.

2. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (managed securely by Clerk, our authentication provider). If you sign up using a third-party provider (e.g., Google), we receive basic profile information from that provider in accordance with your permissions.

Payment information. Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVC, or full payment details on our servers. Stripe receives your billing name, payment card details, and billing address directly. We retain only a Stripe customer ID, subscription status, and subscription tier in our systems.

Usage data. We may collect information about how you interact with the platform — such as pages visited, templates accessed, and search queries — to improve content and user experience. This data is associated with your account or, where possible, collected in aggregate or anonymized form.

Device and log data. Standard web server logs may record your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and timestamps. This information is used for security monitoring, debugging, and aggregate analytics.

Local storage. The platform uses your browser’s localStorage to track recently viewed templates (up to 10 IDs). This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Service worker cache. Our platform uses a service worker to cache pages and assets locally on your device for faster load times. This cached data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. You can clear it at any time through your browser’s settings (Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the platform and its features
  • Verify your identity and manage your account
  • Process subscription payments and manage billing
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, billing receipts)
  • Respond to support inquiries
  • Monitor platform security and prevent fraud or abuse
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve content quality and platform design
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations

We do not use your information for targeted advertising and do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We share information with the following trusted third-party providers solely to operate the platform:

  • Clerk — authentication and user account management. Clerk processes your email address and credentials in accordance with their privacy policy.
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management. Stripe handles all payment card data in accordance with PCI DSS standards and their privacy policy.
  • Vercel — cloud hosting and infrastructure. Vercel may process request logs and serve platform content from their global network.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery. When you submit a contact or access request form, your name and email address are transmitted to Resend solely to deliver that message to us. Resend does not use this information for its own marketing.

These providers are contractually bound to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us and are prohibited from using it for their own marketing purposes.

5. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

  • Contract: processing necessary to provide the subscription service you have signed up for
  • Legitimate interests: security monitoring, fraud prevention, and aggregate analytics to improve the platform
  • Legal obligation: retaining records as required by applicable law
  • Consent: where we have asked for and received your explicit consent

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and subscription data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to fulfill legal and business obligations (e.g., tax records, dispute resolution). If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days, except where retention is required by law.

Server log data is typically retained for 30–90 days.

7. Cookies

The platform uses session cookies and authentication tokens placed by Clerk to keep you logged in. These are strictly necessary for the platform to function and cannot be disabled without logging out.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site behavioral tracking technologies.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, secure credential management through Clerk, and payment data isolation through Stripe. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We will notify affected users promptly in the event of a data breach as required by applicable law.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Deletion: request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
  • Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Objection / restriction: object to or request restriction of certain types of processing
  • Withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting prior lawful processing

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information in Section 12. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

10. Children's Privacy

Sharp Veterinary Insight is intended exclusively for licensed veterinary professionals and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. We will post the updated policy with a revised effective date. For material changes, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice on the platform. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Contact Us

If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us through the contact information provided on this site. We are committed to resolving privacy concerns promptly and fairly.
